Grant Management Specialist

Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing post-award functions for grants awarded to Novant Health, particularly government grant contracts. This includes accounting, monitoring, processing funder-required documentation, and records management.

Participates in pre-award meetings with principal investigators and pre-award project directors to gain a full understanding of the criteria and requirements necessary to manage each award.

Uses a variety of means to gather necessary documents and reports for compliance and monitoring functions.

Ensures awards are set up properly in Grants Administration Office management systems. Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reports for government and private grants.

Seeks out and attends professional development as needed and recommended.

Depending on location, works remotely from home four days per week with one day--usually Tuesday--in the Salisbury, NC office.

• Education: Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred.
• Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in post-award grant management of both government and private grants, required. Working knowledge of IRS regulations and other tax laws applicable to charitable giving and the ability to communicate the legal implications of philanthropy effectively to a wide array of constituents, required.

• Demonstrates experience with and high proficiency of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Highly organized, detail oriented
• Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality
• Strong business acumen with the ability to assess risk, identify and address issues and prioritize work
• Ability to maintain grant compliance and financial reporting, including requesting reimbursement, draw downs and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with the Grants Director and Manager in developing standard operating procedures for grant budget development and monitoring
• Demonstrated desire to exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards and behaviors with communication, understanding, sensitivity, teamwork, ownership, motivation, excellence and respect
• Ability to work both independently without close oversight and as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Novant Health
