Virtual Racial Equity Cohort Learning Series

The Equity Paradigm hosts a quarterly, open virtual cohort to deepen understanding, conviction and accountability around racial equity. This cohort will feature three facilitated sessions, each with a specific focus that builds on the prior session's learning. For individuals that haven't had access to racial equity work, this is a great way to participate. For organizations with new employees that also haven't had access, this is a great opportunity to help your new employees better lean into your organizational equity pursuits by building a foundational understanding of racial equity principles. Engaging in racial equity work in a cohort setting has a number of benefits:

  • Increased accountability to engage in ongoing work
  • Strengthening community with other individuals who are passionate about and committed to racial equity
  • Idea sharing and thought partnership across organizations
  • Structured coaching and feedback from The Equity Paradigm facilitators during sessions

Limited discounted $30 tickets are available until February 1.

Sessions

  • February 18: Foundations in Racial Equity is focused on building social, political, historical, and economic context around the construction of race, and helping participants build a systemic, institutional, and cultural analysis of racialized outcomes, all through the lens of our own racial identities, experiences, and encounters.
  • February 25: Foundations in Internalized Racism pushes participants to examine their own socialization and the unconscious norms, assumptions, and biases that have been ingrained in us, that perpetuate racism and uphold the system as it was designed. We will interrogate our own lived experiences and identities, build community, and devise strategies for deconstructing Internalized Racial Superiority and Internalized Racial Oppression through racial identity caucusing, all while building our capacity to work towards racial equity in the spaces we occupy.
  • March 4: Understanding & Decentering White Supremacy Culture focuses on naming, interrogating, and challenging white supremacy as a socio-political system of domination that, while rendered invisible, controls all facets of what is deemed "normal" and "correct" in our society and, more specificially, in our workplaces. Using a racial equity lens developed in sessions 1 and 2, we will define the attributes of whites supremacy culture, identify our roles as perpetrators/co-conspirators in upholding white supremacy culture as the "norm" in our environments, and begin developing strategies for decentering white supremacy culture and creating space for alternative ways of being and operating.
