Merger: A Strategy for Nonprofit Sustainability

Merger and other forms of organizational alignment are time-tested strategies for nonprofits to increase mission impact, improve financial health, and enhance long-term sustainability. During the current public health and economic crisis, merger is a timely and viable option for many organizations to consider.

This webinar unpacks what nonprofit leaders needs to know about a range of options to restructure organizations, including how an organization can consider merger, common obstacles and success factors, costs, benefits, and risks. It also covers key elements of the merger process as well as legal and financial considerations. Drawing on hands-on experience, the presenters provide a holistic overview that will help participants prepare for bold discussions and navigate opportunities and common pitfalls. You’ll complete the course knowing what you can do yourself and where you will need outside support.

Participants are asked to complete 30 minutes of reading and preparation in advance of the live session. This course uses a case study, small-group discussion, and dialogue throughout.

The course is designed for CEOs, executive directors, and board leaders in nonprofits of all sizes and fields of work.
