Forsyth County Nonprofit Summit

During the first-ever Forsyth County Nonprofit Summit, Merald Holloway of NC 100 and MDC will lead two professional development workshops. Hosted by Forsyth Tech's Small Business Center and HandsOn NWNC, these workshops will support a better understanding of some financial stability models and highlight the need for critical evaluation, including why it’s important to both ask and answer the right questions. Data, both qualitative and quantitative, is the source of vibrant organizational stories – the anticipated successes, the unavoidable failures, and the lessons learned.

Understanding Strategic Planning through Effective Organizational Evaluation
This workshop is designed to help nonprofits understand the purpose of effective evaluation BEFORE the jump to creating a Strategic Plan. Many organizations either do not know what their strategy is or do not know how to execute it successfully. This 90-minute workshop will lend suggestions and direction for you to determine long- and short-term strategies as well as how to operationalize them within your organization. The conversation will introduce you to the concept of logic models – documentation and actions that make an explicit, often visual, statement of the activities that will bring about change and the results you expect to see for the community and its people. A thoughtful logic model also keeps participants in the effort moving in the same direction by providing a common language and point of reference.

Leveraging Relationships & Assets to Build Organizational Power, Wealth, and Sustainability
Sustainability looks different for every business, including your 501c3. Whether you partner with corporations, government agencies, or community-based organizations, or have an earned revenue model, an important part of your job is building mutually beneficial relationships that power your work. Traditionally, the idea of charging money (for almost anything) at a nonprofit has been a point of contention. This facilitated and interactive conversation, plus resource sharing, will introduce ways for your organization to generate sustainable, dependable revenue and go beyond large galas and year-end fundraising pushes.

The registration fee covers both sessions. This summit is in person and will not be recorded.
