North Carolina Center for Nonprofits’ Jeanne Tedrow Announces Retirement

Raleigh, NC – Jeanne C. Tedrow, President and CEO of the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, announced that she will retire at the end of this year after serving nonprofits across the state with the Center since 2017.

During her tenure, Tedrow has built relationships and partnerships to fortify North Carolina’s nonprofit sector, helped to elevate the voices of nonprofits to advocate for better laws and support for nonprofits and the communities they serve, and created learning and networking opportunities for nonprofits to cultivate knowledgeable leaders and effective management practices. She has also led the way towards healthy and equitable communities by evaluating and infusing equity into the Center’s own organizational practices and culture.

“It’s been my privilege to work with an incredible Center team, board of directors, and statewide partners to support and strengthen our statewide network of nonprofits,” said Tedrow. “While I step down from this role, I believe the Center will continue to grow and thrive, and that my leadership has helped prepare it for the future.”

Tedrow has dedicated almost 50 years to nonprofits and the nonprofit sector, beginning in Massachusetts and moving to North Carolina. She has been a direct service practitioner, executive director, volunteer, and board member, and was a co-founder and long-time chief executive of Passage Home in Raleigh before leading the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits.

“We are beyond grateful for Jeanne’s leadership and wish her all the best on her retirement. I know she will always be a friend to the organization and an ardent champion of the Center’s mission,” said Deviré Robinson, Chair of the Center’s Board of Directors and Vice President of Philanthropic Advancement at Foundation For The Carolinas in Charlotte.

The Center’s Board has appointed a Search Committee of five board and three staff members, chaired by Dawn Chávez, Vice Chair of the Board, who will work with leadership consultants Rachel Zink of Onward Nonprofit Services and Gary Landwirth of Giving Ideas to conduct a thoughtful and thorough search process. The President and CEO position announcement has been posted and applications will be accepted through July 14, 2023.
