Plans, coordinates, and directs the administration of the volunteer/internship program; assists with marketing and communication efforts; and provides administrative and programmatic support to the development office.

Volunteer/Internship Program Responsibilities: 1. Devise recruitment methods that foster the growth of the volunteer/internship program 2. Interview prospective volunteers and interns, assess their skills/appropriateness for placement, and approve individuals for service according to organizational needs 3. Implement a comprehensive volunteer/internship training program, seeking input from appropriate staff regarding training needs appropriate for the position 4. Establish individual goals and evaluate volunteer/intern performance with input from direct supervisors; communicate with interns/volunteers and their outside supervisors (e.g. university supervisor, volunteer placement organization, etc.) regarding performance 5. Maintain database of volunteers/interns and track hours of service 6. Ensure professionalism and efficiency of the volunteer/internship program 7. Establish and preserve relationships with local colleges/universities and community organizations for prospective volunteers/interns 8. Manage episodic volunteer groups, including corporate, community, and faith-based organizations 9. All other volunteer/internship responsibilities as needed

Development Responsibilities: 1. Manage the donor database, including: data entry, updates/corrections, gift acknowledgment, and summary reports for use by executive team and board 2. Process donations, prepare acknowledgment letters, and other correspondence as requested 3. Coordinate production of large-scale mailings and solicitations (e.g., annual appeals) 4. Maintain guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials, and other duties as assigned for fundraising and donor relations events including, but not limited to, the Gourmet Lunchbox Lunch (Fall), Gratitude Event (Winter), Modern Toyota Golf Classic (Spring) 5. Assist with grant proposals and progress monitoring 6. All other development responsibilities as needed

Marketing/Communications Responsibilities: 1. Generate, edit, and publish engaging social media content 2. Oversee social media accounts and website content 3. Develop marketing materials for ABC of NC special events, fundraisers, and programming 4. Support leadership with internal needs such as PowerPoint presentations 5. Maintain and monitor inventory of marketing and collateral materials 6. Enhance the organization’s image by being active and visible in the community 7. All other marketing/communications responsibilities as needed

Physical Requirements: 1. Must be able to type on a computer keyboard 2. Must be able to travel by automobile 3. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and assist with event set-up.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills): 1. Four-year college degree with experience in non-profit development/fundraising, volunteer coordination, grant writing, event planning, marketing/public relations, and/or related industries 2. Exceptional communication skills, including writing, oral presentation, and listening 3. Strong budgeting and planning skills 4. Exceptional time-management and organizational skills 5. Computer literacy with proficiency in e-mail, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher; proficiency with donor management software (e.g., eTapestry); website platform (e.g., WordPress); and social media programs 6. Present a professional physical appearance 7. Pass a criminal background and drug check 8. Must be positive, upbeat, energetic, and creative 9. Knowledge of autism and related disorders is an asset 10. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
