Job Purpose Under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Director, the Lead Employment Consultant, provides oversight for Pre-Employment Transition Services (PETS) to students with disabilities enrolled in Cumberland County Schools as referred by the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services. The Lead provides outcome-based supervision to the team of Employment Consultants working alongside them performing job exploration counseling, workplace readiness training, self-advocacy, and work-based learning experiences performing paid internships in the community. Provides job development, job coaching, and on-going support to students ages 16-21 years old with disabilities and/or special needs. Develop sites for community based internships and employment. This position directly interfaces with school personnel, VR staff, and parents. Essential Duties Essential Duty #1 Manages and coordinates PETS program in conjunction with Vocational Rehabilitation and Cumberland County Schools. Track milestones, measurable standards, performance indicators and policies that will promote and provide quality pre-employment transition services in compliance with applicable funding and regulatory bodies. Attend Student’s PCP meetings and Vocational Rehabilitation Bi-Annual Review meetings. Essential Duty #2 Provides students with disabilities individually or in groups with Job Exploration Counseling by providing the Career Scope, (a standardized, timed interest and aptitude assessment for education and career guidance) and generate a report summarizing each student’s assessment results. Provide Employment Opportunity Matching to each student for purposes of matching their career interests/abilities with open positions in the community. Essential Duty #3 Provides Workplace Readiness Training to individuals or group of students with disabilities at the student’s school to identify and develop strategies for removing barriers to employment such as transportation or benefits and soft skills training. Essential Duty #4 Provides Self-Advocacy Pre-Assessment and Workplace Role Play to students with disabilities covering rights and responsibilities, job accommodations, and accessing disability benefits and employment supports. Essential Duty #5 Locates and provides opportunities for student to have paid internships experiences in the community and provide on-site work skills training to support the student’s soft skill development while participating in the internship.
