Walking The Talk: Are We Confronting the Nonprofit Racial Leadership Gap?

The North Carolina Center for Nonprofits hosted the third webinar of our "Walking the Talk: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in North Carolina Nonprofits" series. Building Movement Project (BMP) co-director Frances Kunreuther discussed Race to Lead: Confronting the Nonprofit Racial Leadership Gap, the first report in BMP’s Race to Lead series that explores why there are so few leaders of color in the nonprofit sector. Based on results from a national survey of over 4,000 nonprofit staff members, the report finds that people of color and white respondents are equally qualified, and that people of color are more likely to be interested in becoming a nonprofit leader. The discussion also included the report on the LGBTQ subsample, Working at the Intersections: LGBTQ Nonprofit Staff and the Racial Leadership Gap.
