MANNA FoodBank is seeking an experienced, hands-on Receiving and Inventory Manager to join us in our mission to involve, educate, and unite people in the work of ending hunger in Western North Carolina.

This is a very fast paced, physical working position that is responsible for managing our warehouse receiving and inventory efforts including the direct supervision and leadership of the order picking staff and assigned volunteers.

MANNA FoodBank opened its doors in the basement of Elida Homes in 1983. That first year, the food bank distributed 40,000 pounds of food. In 2016-2017 MANNA distributed 17.3 million pounds of food, including 4.2 million pounds of fresh produce in WNC. That’s enough food to provide 39,500 meals for every day of the year. Still the need persists. 1 out of 6 of our neighbors struggles to put food on the table.

Position Description:
The Receiving and Inventory Manager is responsible for all aspects of MANNA’s receiving, inventory, and order process including: inventory cycle counts; receipting and invoicing; processing orders; maintaining the warehouse in a clean, organized manner suitable for the storage and handling of food items; supervising and training all staff and volunteers assigned to their area; maintaining all pertinent records and providing required reports regarding inventory handling and control; providing a meaningful, productive experience for staff and volunteers. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for overall operation and sanitation of the assigned warehouse area in accordance with MANNA, Feeding America, and AIB (Food Safety) guidelines.
2. Provide direction, training, and supervision of order pickers (dry and perishable), and volunteers in assigned areas of the warehouse. Assign and delegate job tasks and manage work flow to ensure Order Pickers maintain productivity, accuracy, and follow procedures for proper pallet loading and securing of product with stretch-wrap. Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager for possible reassigning of order pickers as needed to effectively maintain overall warehouse operations.
3. Responsible for total inventory management including: scheduling and conducting regular cycle counts on all products as defined by the Cycle Count Plan, reporting results and findings to the Operations Director, and completing all research, documentation and reconciliation of discrepancies with orders or cycle counts.   Manage and lead full inventory counts twice a year.
4. Direct the proper handling and storage of all product including: order picking, receiving, transferring, and transforming of product.
5. Keep accurate records of incoming product, shipped product, transferred product and disposal. Conduct frequent checks for opened/broken cases, damaged product, miscoded product as well as product disposal logs.
6. Coordinate with the Food Sourcing Director to manage inbound shipments and schedule deliveries with freight companies. (TEFAP, SNAP, CO-OP, Choice, etc.)
7. Maintain and utilize data and spreadsheets for inventory accuracy, order pick productivity and accuracy, and product flow.
8. Assists with picking product for agency orders as needed and loading of agency vehicles.
9. Off-load incoming trucks, count and verify product, complete related paperwork using computer software, tag and put away product into rack locations.  Load outbound trucks and complete related paperwork.
10. Provide exceptional customer service to our donors and partner agencies. 
11. Responsible for efficient movement of product (inventory turns) and proper storage and distribution of dated products (FIFO, FEFO).
12. Responsible for adapting and leading staff through ever changing priorities and challenges. Able to supervise and direct simultaneous projects.
13. Continually looks for opportunities to gain efficiencies in assigned areas of responsibility; offer recommendations on operational policies and objectives required for improved performance.
14. Assist in any other areas as needed.

Qualifications:
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; college degree highly preferred
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, supervision and managing a team is highly preferred
• Copy of current driver’s license required; copy of current auto insurance; and clean MVR required
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in the use of load-handling equipment including but not limited to; forklifts, reach trucks, and electric pallet jacks
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to effectively and pleasantly communicate with a diverse group of volunteers, staff and visitors
• Must have strong computer skills (intermediate level) with experience using inventory software and demonstrated proficiency within Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Demonstrated success in multi-tasking, problem solving, and team building skills
• Experience in leading and directing staff and volunteers to achieve department and organizational goals
• Must be organized, accurate and efficient in performing work duties and able to manage multiple priorities
• Proficient in warehouse safety a must

Working Conditions: This position works in a warehouse setting that can be at times, hot or cold depending on the season. This is a fast paced hands-on physical work environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to moderately loud within the Warehouse.

Physical Demands: The physical demands required here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Position requires the ability to frequently lift and transport 50+lbs. The employee must regularly lift and move objects from floor to waist, waist to shoulder and occasional overhead.  Frequent operation of manual pallet jacks with the ability to manage loads in excess of 2000lbs. which includes pushing and pulling of product throughout the warehouse. While performing job duties the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Minimal, but routine travel is required within the service area. Occasional out of town travel for conferences and knowledge sharing with other Food Banks may also be required.

Schedule: Primarily 8am-4pm (Monday-Friday) or as needed to complete the work. Flexibility to work some night and weekends for special events, as needed

Salary range for this position is $35,000 - $42,000
