JOB DESCRIPTION – PART TIME, 20 HOURS PER WEEK

SUMMARY
Smart Start of Transylvania County is part of the North Carolina Partnership for Children, a nationally recognized, award-winning early childhood initiative designed to ensure that young children enter school healthy and ready to succeed. In its twenty-first year, the organization is embarking on transformative change.
In collaboration with its community partners, Smart Start of Transylvania County is working to:
• Build its organizational and governance capacities,
• Be the champion for young children through collaboration, public education, and influencing public policy,
• Ensure young children have equitable access to developmentally appropriate, high quality learning,
• Assist and encourage early childhood educators in their pursuit of excellence and promote an environment that elevates the profession,
• Pursue opportunities to advance the health and well-being of young children and their families.
OBJECTIVE
Smart Start of Transylvania County seeks an Operations Coordinator to ensure financial and contractual compliance so that best practices are implemented, and its organizational capacity is sustainable.
REPORTS TO
Executive Director
WORKS WITH
Smart Start of Transylvania County team, North Carolina Partnership for Children staff, early education center staff, Early Childhood Initiative members, direct service providers for Smart Start and NC PreK programs, NCPC regional Accountant, community volunteers, community at large and regional and state-wide stakeholders in early childhood.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Recruit volunteers for community service opportunities.
• Provide support for the organization on Smart Start and NC PreK contractual terms and conditions by managing an organizational compliance calendar for all funding sources. Develop systems/processes to manage the compliance.
• Provide support for the NC PreK Administrator role of Smart Start including monthly attendance, maintenance of the NC PreK plan and classroom data.
• Provide financial operations support for the organization by coordinating purchasing, manage office supply inventory and coordinate accounts payable/receipts.
• Maintain early literacy program registrations and parent survey process.
• Provide administrative support for the Executive Director.
• Support the resource lending library.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or other related field and 5 years of experience.

• Self-directed, creative, multi-tasker, who is detail oriented.

• Experience with successful project and program management.
• Experience with successful team support.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with technology and familiarity with data analysis/reporting.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with experience (DOE).
