Kellys' Community Kitchen recognizes the stark contrast between the abundance of food that is enjoyed by some in our community and the struggle undertaken by others daily, to feed themselves and their families. Food waste occurs both at the community (restaurants, civic and private orgs, schools) and household levels.
Our mission, not unlike other food recovery programs, is to identify these excess resource channels, and then "rescue" unused ingredients or surplus prepared food; thus diverting them from the landfill. What sets us apart is that we actually transform raw product into safe, nourishing meals or intake a redistribute cooked food to those less fortunate in our community.
Kellys' Community Kitchen was conceived in 2020 by a father and son team with a passion for food and community service. Its a family-run nonprofit charitable organization, incorporated with the State of North Carolina. NC SOS ID: 2257939.
