About our organization:

The Bridge Community, Inc. is a vital and innovative 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with
the mission to improve lives across the diverse communities we serve in Alexander County.
Alexander County has a higher poverty line percentage rate of 17.4% in population living
below the national average of 14%. With the U.S. and world economies in crisis, more
unemployed workers, working poor families, and seniors on limited incomes than ever before
are living at the margins of poverty and need help in securing adequate resources for their
Generally, many disadvantaged families struggle to obtain life’s essentials, such as affordable
housing, job skills training, childcare, food, and medication. Food Stamp benefits, income
deductions, and other qualifications for federal nutrition assistance have not kept pace
with inflation, nor do they accurately reflect rising household and living expenses, such as

Our desire is to bridge the gap between the needs of families and the resources available in
Alexander and surrounding counties in North Carolina, by prioritizing needs of employment,
education, counseling services, and health services. In supporting the development of self-
confidence, education, healthy living, good judgment, and character, our corporation will
provide many struggling families with a thorough foundation for future success.
Currently, we are not operating as a full-time-staff office. Our board members are our volunteers as well, s we find volunteers to assist as needed during times we need more hands to assist in a cause. We take much pride in serving where we need to at any given moment.
