The mission of The Children's Council of Watauga County is to build a strong foundation for children's learning and development by strengthening families, the early childhood system, and the wider community. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to develop to his or her fullest potential in a community that supports, nurtures, and empowers children and families.

The mission of the Onslow Women’s Center is to provide crisis intervention to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and to end all forms of interpersonal violence through education and prevention.

To empower low-income women for better life and income-producing opportunities through classes in life skill, job readiness, and Bible study, along with a personal mentor for each participant, supported and sponsored by local community resources.

To provide services, intergenerational activities, and opportunities to elderly and disabled adults of Ashe County that enhance their dignity and help them maintain their independence at home.

Saluda Living in Place (SLIP) helps to reduce those barriers and help residents to live longer, healthier and more enjoyable lives. We believe that a strong senior community can be a rewarding place to live, with seniors serving as an asset to each other and the entire community.

To enable children and adults with disabilities to achieve functional goals through the use of equine assisted activities and Hippotherapy.

​The Still Place is a charitable organization providing rest, renewal and re-creation to families living with serious illness in hope of fostering resiliency, empowerment and self-determination. We provide free of charge vacations, uniquely planned and lovingly facilitated for families who find it difficult if not impossible to get away, plan and experience the healing restorative properties of a family vacation.

Foster Family Alliance of North Carolina (FFA-NC) is a nonprofit corporation that recruits and provides training, and support to individuals, families and organizations that impact the lives of children and their families who have been, or are in foster, or kinship care, in North Carolina.
