Lead Preschool Teacher

Subject: Lead Preschool Teacher Position, The Learning Trail, Chapel Hill, NC

The Learning Trail is seeking a part-time Lead Preschool Teacher for the 2022-23 school year. The Preschool program serves a low-income Latinx community in Chapel Hill and is offered to families free of charge. It is located within Nature Trail mobile home community, in a self-contained renovated preschool room, fully equipped with standard preschool furnishings and supplies. The mission of the Learning Trail is to reduce the education gap that exists for this population.

The program runs 4 mornings per week for 3 hours plus prep time and additional time spent planning and working with the parent community—in total 30 hours per week. The maximum class size is 10 students and the Preschool teacher has a full-time aide. The Lead Teacher has a great deal of autonomy but weekly meetings with a supervisor to monitor progress and address issues. The salary range is $25,000 to 30,000 depending upon experience.

Requirements:

The Preschool teacher must be bi-lingual in English and Spanish, must have experience with young children in a classroom setting, and preferably a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Learning Trail Preschool calendars follows the Chatham County school calendar and thus offers the same holidays and vacations. Hours allow employee free afternoons and evenings, with rare exceptions. Teacher has a great deal of autonomy but weekly meetings with experienced educator as mentor.
