HepConnect Coordinator

The North Carolina AIDS Action Network is looking for a new member to join its team. The HepConnect Coordinator has primary responsibility for raising awareness of North Carolina’s burgeoning hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemic, encouraging HCV prevention strategies rooted in harm reduction, and focusing attention on the disparate impact of HCV on people of color in North Carolina.

The NC AIDS Action Network (NCAAN) is the only statewide organization in North Carolina solely focused on improving the lives of those living with HIV & viral hepatitis along with affected communities. This is an exciting and dynamic time for the NC AIDS Action Network, and the HepConnect Coordinator will join the organization after several years of significant political victories and organizational growth. The NC AIDS Action Network has won significant victories for LGBTQ health & built toward long-term success in North Carolina. Due to NCAAN’s advocacy over the last four years, the state’s HIV Medication Assistance Program is currently fully funded, the state legislature has increased appropriations for viral hepatitis testing and treatment, and North Carolina modernized the state’s HIV criminal law.

This position will:

- Recruit advocates and community members to be HCV peer educators.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with coalition partners and key staff members at partner organizations, and represent NCAAN in coalitions focused on HCV and harm reduction.
- In partnership with appropriate staff, generate earned media about HCV and harm reduction.
- Attract and engage supporters through social media.
- Host regional trainings in priority communities in North Carolina to build knowledge and expertise about HCV and harm reduction.
- Create HCV related content for major NC AIDS Action Network annual events.
- Other duties as assigned.


- This position will be based in either Raleigh or Western North Carolina.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- At least 2 years of related work experience.
- Candidate needs to have a strong attention to detail, and be able to carry out tasks efficiently.
- Candidate must be able to take initiative, set goals and accomplish them.
- Candidate must be comfortable working with people who use drugs.
- Strong written communications and interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude.

The opportunity will involve some travel, and candidates will need access to transportation.
