Foundation Development Director

Granville Health System (GHS) is a community healthcare provider based in Oxford, NC. We are currently recruiting for a full-time Foundation Development Director in the Community Relations Department.

The Foundation Development Director is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of fundraising programs and strategies for the Granville Health System Foundation. Ensures that fundraising goals are in alignment of the organization's mission and business objectives. Accountable to the GHS Foundation Board of Directors and Administrative Director HR & Communications. Responsibilities include: Actively identifies, cultivates and solicits new funding opportunities and development strategies. Funding opportunities to include annual giving programs, holiday campaigns, direct mail programs (patient outreach) and donor estate planning. Effectively develops and maintains relationships with current and potential donors and sponsors in the community. Works to develop major gift opportunities, research grant sources, and write grant proposals. Responsible for planning, organizing, and leading all events and campaigns. Acts as the key liaison for all foundation activities collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. Develops and maintains a Foundation Board Ambassador education program. Serves as the foundation's community liaison. Manage annual and event-specific budgets.


Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field.

Demonstrated success in major grant writing > $250K.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in the development and implementation of fundraising initiatives/programs, preferably in a non-profit organization.


10+ years of experience in donor relations and cultivation related to fundraising and knowledge of the healthcare industry.

Job specific and technical competencies for this position include the following: Firm grasp of best practices in communications and marketing to include website management, online communications and production of foundation collateral to include annual reports to the community. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to facilitate small and large group presentations. Must have excellent public speaking skills. Strong knowledge of effective fundraising strategies including corporate sponsorship acquisition, individual donor cultivation, event production and grant seeking. Organizational and analytical skills Ability to network, develop and nurture relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers and staff. Ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines Ability to manage multiple changing priorities and work effectively in a team or independent setting Ability to resolve conflicts and/or negotiate with others to achieve positive results; establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships Ability to actively lead the strategic planning process and participate in formulating foundation policy
