About Stop Soldier Suicide
Stop Soldier Suicide (SSS) is the first national veteran-founded-and-led nonprofit focused on military suicide prevention. SSS connects service members, veterans, and military family members with the resources they need to overcome the unique challenges and stressors of military service. Our Stop Soldier Suicide Resource Center database includes more than 3,000+ resources and partner organizations, allowing our case managers to connect every client with resources tailored to their individual needs.
SSS is growing rapidly (on track to reach a $2M budget this year) and seeks an entrepreneurial, strategic, and driven leader to guide the organization through its next important, dynamic chapter. The Executive Director will bring a proven ability to develop and execute the strategic direction of the organization while diversifying revenue streams, building strong partnerships within and outside of the veteran service community, managing and growing our talented team, improving operations, and serving as the organization’s chief spokesperson.
The top candidate must bring previous experience successfully leading a business or nonprofit organization. The high-growth and fast-paced nature of the organization also requires a leader with tremendous energy and passion for the mission and an ability to collaborate with a variety of personalities and perspectives.
Strategic Vision: Lead SSS’s strategic vision and direction by collaborating with the Board, staff, and key stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Culture: Build and manage a highly collaborative work environment that supports the professional and personal development of each team member.
Operations Oversee the successful execution of SSS’s day-to-day operations; identify and implement innovations and efficiencies to deliver exceptional service and support to clients.
Financial Management: Manage the organization’s budget, financial planning, reporting, and compliance; ensure the organization achieves its annual financial targets.
Development: Work closely with the Board and Director of Development to diversify revenue sources, including foundation grants, individual gifts, and corporate partnerships.
Communications: Build awareness of and support for SSS by engaging in multiple marketing and communications platforms (e.g., media appearances, social media, speaking engagements, publishing).
Board Engagement: Build a strong and engaged Board with clearly defined roles and opportunities to maximize impact.
Experience successfully leading a business or nonprofit organization, overseeing all aspects of the strategy, operations, finances, program delivery, revenue generation, staff, and Board engagement
Proven ability to manage in a dynamic, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment
Demonstrated ability to generate revenue and achieve or exceed financial targets
Experience leading, managing, motivating, and coaching a team and cultivating a collaborative and supportive culture
Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to represent the organization to a variety of external audiences (e.g., veterans, civilians, funders, media).
