Reporting to the Scout Executive/CEO, the Communication and Marketing Director (CD) serves as a key member of the Council’s management team and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting the Occoneechee Council. In partnership with the Volunteer Vice President of Communication and the Board of Directors, this position is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy for both internal and external audiences. This will include guidelines for staff-created messaging and council distributed communications. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build the Council’s non-profit visibility, impact, membership and financial resources. This position will also design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing communicating to external audiences and stakeholders.
This position will have primary responsibility for overseeing the creation of collateral that unifies branding and messaging and amplifies the good work of our organization. Creating templates that can be used by staff and volunteers to drive growth in membership to include; flyers, social media templates, Photofy collateral, newsletters etc. S/he will coordinate, expand and diversify the Council’s communications channels to allow the ability to communicate appropriately with all audiences.
Our CD’s goal is to raise public awareness and strengthen organizational communication, in line with our aim to grow Scouting in size, scope, and impact throughout our twelve-county service area.
