The primary focus of this position is receiving all cash, check and credit card collections, daily bank runs and preparation of deposits for all entities of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham and Morganton. This position is also responsible for providing customer service and accounting functions to support the school. There are no remote options for this position due to the cashiers availability and the need to accept payments from students on campus. Work Hours are M-F 8:00-5:00

General Duties:
*Verify, receipt and post all receivables for the agency.
*Create and maintain billing sheets; prepare and enter journal entries; reconcile credit card transactions; and track deposits in google sheets
*Create and maintain the web payment page for electronic payment options via Online School Payments (OSP) and IATS payments by Deluxe (IATS) processing.
*Investigate, analyze and resolve outstanding issues to achieve customer satisfaction in a timely manner and follow up on unresolved issues.
*Collaborate with various departmental contacts regarding club sponsor payments and tracking data needs.
*Follow Business Office policy on daily transport of funds to banking institutions.
*Requires a valid NC Driver’s License with a clean driving record for daily transport of funds to banking institutions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*Cash handling experience and experience with recording and tracking payments.
*Excellent customer service skills is a priority as this position has extensive public contact with staff, students and parents of the school.
*Attention to detail and experience completing and maintaining accurate records and reports.
*The selected candidate must have experience with at least one accounting or business application and high competence with Microsoft Office and Google Apps products.

Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preference will be given to candidates with three years of work experience in accounting, cash handling and recording of payments experience.

Health Insurance: Employee only coverage under the State Health Plan (PPO) is provided to employees that work 30 or more hours a week. The cost is determined by the type of coverage elected by the employee. Dependent coverage is available by payroll deduction.
