Description of Duties:
After the initial training period, this position will have remote work options and work/life flexibility.
Position reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Finance and is responsible for Monitoring and preparing financial records for the business office which includes the foundation. This position is responsible for the following tasks:
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports for the foundation board of directors
Reviewing monthly financial reports for accuracy and completeness
Modifying procedures based on changes in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), American Institute of Certified Public Accounts (AICPA), Financial Account Standards Board (GASB), and Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
Reviewing and approving accounts payable and travel requests
Managing and modifying accounting systems which includes adding accounts, creating approval rules, and creating reports
Processing of journal entries into the General Ledger using The North Carolina Accounting System (NCAS) and Blackbaud
Assisting with year end and audit preparation
Overseeing and assisting with tax payments and filings for the foundation
Financial analysis and planning
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to independently manage well-defined business functions for a department unit or an organization.
Ability to apply established policies and procedures related to business practices and internal control procedures.
Ability to implement business practices and procedures that support the strategic goals of the organization.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public and business administration.
Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.

Death benefit of minimum $25,000/maximum $50,000 based on previous 12 month salary (eligible after 1 year of service/no cost).

Health Insurance: Employee only coverage under the State Health Plan (PPO) is provided to employees that work 30 or more hours a week. The cost is determined by the type of coverage elected by the employee. Dependent coverage is available by payroll deduction.
NC Flex Plan: Plan offers Health Care Flexible Spending, Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending, Dental Insurance, Vision Care Plan, Critical Illness, Cancer Insurance, Core Accidental Death & Dismemberment, Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, Accident, and Group Term Life. Community Service: 24 hours leave credited each calendar year (prorated for part-time) unless you choose the Mentoring/ tutoring option – 1 hour each week up to a max of 36 hours that schools are in session as documented by the elected board of the local education agency or the governing authority of any non-public school.
