The Executive Director is responsible for planning, maintaining, monitoring, and evaluating the growth of the Edgecombe Community College Foundation. The Executive Director provides leadership for fundraising activities and for obtaining support from local and surrounding communities through individual and corporate donors. The Executive Director reports to the Foundation Board of Directors and the College’s Chief Advancement Officer. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Administrative Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day operations of the Foundation, including staff. Support operations of the Foundation Board of Directors by advising and informing Board members with quarterly reports and preparing meeting agenda and supporting materials. Recommend updates to policies and procedures for approval of the Board. Insure that personnel, client, donor, and volunteer files are securely stored to maintain privacy and confidentiality. Serve on College committees as assigned. Work with other community college foundations to keep updated on current trends, training, new fundraising ideas, and prospective funding sources. Serve as a liaison and channel of communication between the Foundation Board of Directors and the College. Further professional abilities through attendance at seminars, conferences, and association meetings. Financial Responsibilities: Develop an annual operating budget for Board of Directors approval by preparing annual goals and a breakdown of estimated expenditures. Manage internal accounting system and oversee annual budget. Manage the execution of monthly financial reports, annual audit, annual tax filings and all 501(c)(3) compliance obligations. Present periodic reports reflecting the status of accounts and events to the Foundation Board or its designated committees. Manage the activities related to investments of Foundation assets. Serves as a member of the Board’s Investment Committee. Fundraising Responsibilities: Design comprehensive fundraising programs. Oversee and implement fundraising programs. Manage individual fundraising events. Identify individual and corporate donors and potential donors. Establish relationships with these donors. Effectively communicate giving opportunities. Develop and implement an ongoing Annual Gifts Program to support special annual programs and allow asset growth. Develop and implement a Capital Gifts Program when deemed necessary by the Board of Directors. Develop and implement an ongoing Planned Giving Program to promote and secure lifetime and testamentary gifts through the use of trusts, a pooled income plan, bequests, annuities, and outright gifts. Scholarship Program Responsibilities: Design ECC Foundation scholarship programs, ensuring that the programs offered by the organization/individual contribute to the Foundation’s mission and reflect the priorities of the Board of Directors. Work with donors to innovate and customize specific scholarship programs. Work with the Scholarship Committee to ensure scholarship assignment complies with donor wishes. Oversee the mini-grant program. Coordinate the Faculty Chair selection committee, the Chair presentation and reception; and oversees the funding for this award. Marketing and Public Relations: Work with Public Information Officer and Graphic Artist to create and design marketing materials and social media campaigns that will generate awareness of the Foundation, attract donors, and increase awareness of giving opportunities. Identify and maintain relationships with target businesses, individuals, civic groups, and corporations as potential donors. Plan and coordinate annual Foundation sponsored donor recognition reception and other activities. Plan and coordinate travel trips for relationship building and College support. Represent the College as a liaison in a variety of civic groups. Represent the College at organizations/committees as assigned. Oversee the organization and development of the Alumni Partnership. Explore ways to recognize faculty and staff, such as through faculty and staff honorariums, staff trip abroad, and special events.
