Virtual Racial Equity Cohort - Workshop 3

We are continuing to see the effects of COVID-19 disproportionately impact communities of color all over the country as it relates to healthcare, education, the economy, social services, the job market, and many other systems. It is critical that we acknowledge and understand WHY communities of color are disproportionately experiencing the worst of this pandemic, and HOW we can ensure our individual and structural responses don’t inadvertently perpetuate and exacerbate these disparities.

The Equity Paradigm is excited to facilitate a Virtual Racial Equity learning series on Fridays in June (June 12, June 19, June 26). This series will provide participants with a foundational understanding of racial equity, as well as tangible behaviors, mindsets and decisions that can help advance racially equitable outcomes on individual, organizational and structural levels. Registrants will be sent a link to allow access to the workshops.

Workshop 3: Friday, June 26
Our Decentering White Supremacy Culture workshop focuses on naming, interrogating, and challenging white supremacy as a socio-political system of domination that, while rendered invisible, controls all facets of what is deemed "normal" and "correct" in our society and in our workplaces, more specifically. Using a racial equity lens developed in sessions 1 & 2, we will define the attributes of whites supremacy culture, identify our roles as perpetrators/co-conspirators in upholding white supremacy culture as the "norm" in our environments, and begin developing strategies for decentering white supremacy culture and creating space for alternative ways of being and operating.
