Reflective Resilience for Anti-Oppressive Supervisory Relationships

Power dynamics are unavoidable within supervisory relationships, and most of our nonprofit organizations have a long way to go to undo the inherent inequality and racism at their core. Nonprofit employees are calling for brave spaces in which uncomfortable realities and contradictions are front and center in how we speak about trauma dynamics at work. In this workshop, we invite experienced, new, and future nonprofit supervisors to reflect on your experience and activate your sphere of influence for hope and healing in our organizations. There will be practice opportunities!

Key Takeaways:

  • How power dynamics and trauma impact the supervisory relationship
  • Why it is essential to center the experiences of members of marginalized groups that have been systemically undervalued and unsupported in the human service professions
  • How to apply trauma-informed principles to discussing identity and race within supervisory relationships

This workshop will be presented by Elizabeth Speck, Principal, MindOpen Learning Strategies, and Melissa Elliot, CEO, MDL Consulting and Coaching.

Participants who complete the post-session evaluation can receive a PDF copy of the presentation.
