Management and Leadership of the Nonprofit Sector

You will learn about the history, scope and impact of organizations that can be classified as nonprofit in the United States, the defining characteristics of this important sector of organizations, the similarities and differences of organizations across the for-profit, public and nonprofit sectors, and the role of the nonprofit organization's mission. Finally, you will take a look at career options in the thriving nonprofit sector and how you can make a living while making a difference.

The one-day workshop is appropriate for anyone interested in attending, but the topics also serve as the kickoff for the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) course, "Management and Leadership of the Nonprofit Sector." During registration, you'll be given an option to register for the workshop, the 4-week long course, or the entire CNP 8 course program.

The CNP on-line course immediately follows the workshop from August 24 through September 22.

Class activities and discussion during the August 24th workshop will be counted towards the overall grade. Participants will start the first Artifact Portion during the last half-hour of an in-class activity, and will be given a chance to submit this completed document on-line during the workshop. Workshop attendees can benefit from completing this activity in-class and if interested, at home.

A second confirmation letter will be sent to the CNP students one week prior to the start of the course, to clarify the process for accessing on-line content, and other important resources will also be shared at that time.
