From Intention to Action: How Funders, Boards, Nonprofits and Businesses Are Working Together to Meaningfully Advance Race Equity Work

Last year, in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, as Black and brown communities reeled from the disproportionate impact of COVID-19, it seemed that nearly every nonprofit funder was making a statement about its commitment to race equity. But did those stated intentions result in real action and meaningful change?

For some funders, unfortunately, the answer is no. But there are funders that have taken significant steps to deepen their investment in Black and brown communities in the last ~18 months.

In this webinar, we'll talk to United Way of Metro Chicago, a United Way board member, and a recipient of their recently announced United Neighborhoods Equity Fund (UNEF) that supports small, Black and brown-led nonprofits predominantly located in the city’s south and west sides and connects them to new investment opportunities. You'll hear from:

  • Jackie Rosa, Associate Vice President, Community Engagement, United Way of Metro Chicago
  • Richard Wallace, Executive Director and Founder, Equity and Transformation (EAT), a UNEF grantee organization
  • Linda Coberly, United Way Metro Chicago Board Member and DEI Committee Chair

You'll learn why initiatives like UNEF are critical as organizations move from an intention to deepen their commitment to race equity through real action, how the organization is driving meaningful, powerful collaboration with its partners, and what you should do if your organization is still struggling to move from intention to action on race equity.

Attendance for this webinar will be capped at 250 people, so please register to secure your spot. If you can't make it into the live webinar, we'll share a recording with everyone who registers after it concludes.
