Exploring DEI Issues through the Lens of Trauma

Perhaps more than any other time in Delaware's history, nonprofit organizations' services and leadership are being sought to navigate barriers to achieving sustainable, transformational change in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). To achieve this, our approach must evolve from merely focusing on "compliance with" and "tolerance of" cultural differences. A new paradigm is required. A new lens through which to view, understand, and embrace those whose lived experiences differ from our own, in needed. Join this webinar to learn how viewing difference -- who we are, why we are, and how we move through the world, can aid us in creating a space from which the desired impact of diversity, equity and inclusion can be pursued and obtained without indictment of our perceived differences of knowing or being.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • The basic concepts of trauma
  • The different types of traumas
  • How a shift in POV from “What is wrong with the other” to “What might have happened to the other” could inform your way of knowing/being in the world
