Envision: Diversity and Race Equity for Boards of Directors

Boards of Directors value the diversity of thought and leadership that its members bring to the governance table, but research shows that as much as 90% of boards are demographically white. This creates a racial leadership gap that may create blind spots in leadership and reduce problem solving and critical strategic thinking. Valuing a diverse board needs to be advanced into action so that boards can become more equipped to lead their organizations towards a race equity culture.

This 2-part webinar will review national and Oklahoma-based research on board diversity and share the practical steps a board can take to become more committed, more knowlegeable, and more skilled in analyzing race, racism, and race equity and in placing these issues at the forefront of organizational and operational strategy.

You'll learn how to:

  • Use the language of diversity, in particular, why race equity matters to boards of directors.
  • Become more comfortable discussing matters of race at the board level and possess a commitment to diverse representation.
  • Identify steps to commit towards building a diverse and equitable-centered board that can hold the organization accountable for its race equity culture.
