Building Dynamic Boards

Are you tired of expecting more from your board than you get? Join this interactive day of training for board members and executive staff who are seeking practical and proven tools to mobilize engage and empower your board. What we'll cover:

  • Building Board Expectations  – A refresher on board roles and responsibilities before delving into strategies to personalize expectations for your board and tools designed to get your board off the sidelines and into an active leadership role. Strategies you learn will help you quickly identify ideal board prospects and fully engage your board.
  • Where the Board Ends and the Staff Begins: Building Bridges Through Effective Communication – Are you a new or emerging nonprofit leader who is working to create an effective and positive board/staff relationship? Do you struggle to keep the board and staff on the same page? Are you excited about transitions happening within your organization and ready to model positive leadership so you can grow an a-list board? Through conversations and exercises, participants will clarify the roles and responsibilities of board members versus staff, and learn effective strategies for conflict resolution within the organization.
  • Effective Fundraising with Your Board – Nonprofit organizations must continually look for new funding sources and ways to support their services and mission. We'll review a board’s primary role in the fundraising process, break down key strategies for successful campaigns, and outline best practices for donor development. This will actively engage every member of your team in messaging, key fundraising processes, and skills. Your board and staff will benefit from targeted fundraising strategies and will be challenged to put newly learned skills to use immediately so that your bank account starts filling up within 90 days!
  • Crafting Your Ask You'll learn how to teach your staff and board how to identify major needs and talking points so they can become effective ambassadors for your organization. Tackle your greatest fundraising fears by learning how to craft the perfect ask. We will guide you through activities to shift the mindset around storytelling and fundraising so your team feels comfortable reaching out with requests of all sizes. Walk away with talking points and templates for both written and in-person asks.
