Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Senior Employment Consultant, the Employment Consultant working in the Pre-Employment Transition Services (PETS) program will provide job exploration counseling, workplace readiness training, self-advocacy, and work-based learning experiences to students ages 16-21 years old with disabilities and/or special needs.

These five duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

Essential Duties
Essential Duty #1 Provides students with disabilities individually or in groups with Job Exploration Counseling by providing the Career Scope, (a standardized, timed interest and aptitude assessment for education and career guidance) and generate a report summarizing each student’s assessment results. Provide Employment Opportunity
Matching to each student for purposes of matching their career interests/abilities with open positions in the community.

Essential Duty #2 Provides Workplace Readiness Training to individuals or group of students with disabilities at the student’s school to identify and develop strategies for removing barriers to employment such as transportation or benefits and soft skills training.

Essential Duty #3 Provides Self-Advocacy Pre-Assessment and Workplace Role Play to students with disabilities covering rights and responsibilities, job accommodations, and accessing disability benefits and employment supports.

Essential Duty #4 Provides opportunities for student to have paid internships experiences in the community and provide on-site work skills training to support the student’s soft skill development while participating in the internship.
