JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Development creates and oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which includes major gifts, corporate donations, grant solicitation, and in-kind resources.  The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director and will work closely with board members and volunteers to sustain a year-round comprehensive program of charitable support from individuals, corporations, foundations, community and philanthropic organizations.  
Working relationships
• Reports to the Executive Director
• Works closely with the Board of Directors
• Works collaboratively and in a team environment with staff; member of the Management Team
• Leads the Development Committee – made up of volunteers, including board members
• Leads Volunteer Event Planning Committees on assigned events 
Salary Range:  $40,000 - $55,000 – Exempt
Hours:  M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility to work some evening hours for special events.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and execute a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization. Plan should include communications and marketing strategies that support the goals of the plan. comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization.
Secure donations from individuals, corporations, foundations, and community partners in accordance with ethical fundraising principals and with a focus on growing the number of major gift donors and giving circle members.
Identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects for the organization’s fundraising priorities.
Oversee donor acknowledgement processes are complete in a timely manner.
Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved.
Coordinate and lead monthly fundraising committee meeting; attend board meetings and prepare regular reports on progress of the fund development activities.
Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities (direct mail, special appeals, events, donor newsletters, etc.) to ensure strategic plans and critical fund-raising processes are carried out in a timely manner.
Launch a monthly giving campaign.
Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events as specified in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization.
Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization, including education and training for board members and staff.
Coordinate and/or give presentations about the Children & Family Resource Center in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS  
Education & Experience
• A bachelor’s degree and/or demonstrated success in sales or fundraising.
• 3 to 5 years of fundraising, or related, experience.
• CFRE Certification a plus.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
• Knowledge of fundraising management.
• Knowledge of special events planning and management.
• Experience with volunteer recruitment, volunteer management.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Association of Fundraising Professional’s code of ethical principles and standards of professional practice.  
• Experience and knowledge of annual and major gift programs and grant writing experience. 
• Recognized leadership ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. 
• Experience in planning and coordinating special events.
• Ability to use computers to create PR materials, manage data and compose reports.
• Effective meeting facilitation skills.
Proficiency in the use of computer for:
• Fund raising/donor management software is an asset.
• Effectively use word processing, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, email, internet and social media.
