Position Description

I. Overview
Cumberland Community Foundation is a public charity serving Cumberland County, NC and the surrounding area. Under the direction of a volunteer board of community leaders the foundation receives charitable funds from donors, invests those funds wisely, distributes funds to charitable causes, and provides services and grants to nonprofit organizations and the community. II. Position Description
The Development & Donor Services Manager oversees the services provided to donors, fund management, and donor-related communications of the foundation. Working as part of a team, this professional will:
• provide support to donors, prospective donors, and the CCF team to fulfill the overall mission,
• provide stewardship over existing donor funds and related services,
• work with the team to develop new gifts and connect with new donors,
• develop fund-specific donor communications and engagement as well as broad appeal communications activities,
• guide the nonprofit endowment partners to achieve their endowment goals, and
• coordinate and support the Community Impact Updates hosted by board members.

All members of the CCF team work wherever necessary to achieve goals and impact and according to policy, standards, and timelines.

III. Responsibilities
• Leads, manages, evaluates, and documents the donor services and fund management function per CCF policy, National Standards, and donor intent.
• Working with the Executive Director, develops and implements the fundraising and donor outreach strategy.
• Supports the Community Impact Committee in the implementation of its charter as it relates to donor services and engagement.

Donor Development and Services:
• Identify, present, and educate donor prospects, professional advisors, and organizations about benefits and uses of CCF.
• Conduct and manage donor stewardship including the gift acknowledgment process and coding the donor management system to achieve donor goals.
• Lead, manage, and document the nondiscretionary grantmaking function per CCF policy, National Standards, and donor intent, including agency, designated, donor advised, and special project funds and excluding scholarships and WGC.
• Provide donor services including fund management and reporting, gift acceptance, and DAF grantmaking.
• Assist nonprofit endowment partners in achieving their endowment goals using the tool kit and systems of the foundation and providing communications materials and training for their volunteer teams and staff.
• Coordinate and support the Community Impact Updates hosted by board members.
• Assure a smooth transition for donors from fund creation to ongoing donor relations.
• Working with the Grants & Impact Manager, create opportunities for donors to see the impact of their work in the community through site visits and donor education events.
• Provide leadership and/or support for the foundations events.
• Represent CCF at community, donor, grantee, and financial advisor functions.
• Develop and lead the staff to maintain FIMS coding systems related to donors, professional advisors, prospects, and funds.
• Actively update the FIMS contact management system with brief information to retain donor and advised relationship history.
• Track pledges for individual fund campaigns.
• Report giving to designated and agency endowments to the designated nonprofit organization’s leadership.

Communications:
• Working with the CCF team, develop a Communications Plan for every fiscal year and implement throughout the year.  This will include development of content and donor stories for e-newsletters (at least 3x year), Facebook posting (2x week), Annual Report (publication by 9/30), news releases, professional advisor letters (2x year), and targeted donor letters.
• Communicating with donors to celebrate the impact of the grants from their endowment funds.
• Primary responsibility for donor related website content.
• Working with the ED, develop print collateral for use in the development function.
• Develop and maintain communications systems with nonprofit endowment partners by developing and implementing a timeline for partner communication.
• Maintain photo management system to support long term communications needs and lead the staff in supporting the system.
• Continuously improve the CCF database. Lead the staff in capture of email addresses and phone numbers to build the database. Lead the staff in capturing donor information and interest areas through the donor management system (currently FIMS).

Other:
• Work with the staff and board to improve systems and impact.
• Support colleagues and volunteers however needed to achieve CCF goals.
• Maintain knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Maintain current knowledge of federal and state policies and national standards for area(s) under management.
• Attend community events as CCF representative. 

IV. Other Responsibilities
• Excellent management of assigned areas to achieve goals and impact, according to policy, standards, and timelines.
• Engage the staff in supporting communications function by submitting photos and stories for publication.
• Maintain and implement detailed operating guides for programs/areas assigned.
• Continuously learn and add to personal knowledge and skills.

$40,000 to $55,000 depending on experience

Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm with break for lunch
Work Hours: May vary as needed. Evening/weekend meetings, as needed.

Experience / Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
At least three years of progressive employment in fundraising and development, or equivalent.
Experience in donor relationship management.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to research and analyze data, organize and manage multiple projects.
Experience developing multi-channel communications.
Experience and success in working with diverse populations.
Experience in database management.
Skilled at Microsoft Office and office automation.
Must have a valid driver’s license and transportation to be used in the course of the job.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to:
• Set up, breakdown meeting tables and chairs.
• Lift and move documents and supplies and carry boxes of up to 20 pounds up 30 steps.
• Sit at a desk for up to 2 hours at a time and keyboard for up to 2 hours at a time.
• Set up and break down 12 folding tables within one hour.
• Move and stack 60 chairs in The Community Room in one hour or less.
• Bend to file and retrieve documents.
• Drive locally to pick up meals/supplies.
• Use the multi-line telephone equipment.
• Take after-hours emergency calls related to the buildings if ever needed.
