The B. H. Rowland Foundation (BHRF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing and supporting the work of high-quality early childhood educators in North Carolina. The foundation will privately raise funds to support the instructional, environmental, and professional development and growth needs of the educators we serve through a variety of grants, awards, and scholarships. The funds raised will be used to supplement state dollars that are allocated for direct support services only, including small grants to teachers for needed materials and supplies, and for opportunities to continue their own professional growth and development (e.g. conference attendance, access to leadership and advocacy opportunities, as well as collaborations with other professionals). Most importantly, the foundation will create innovative ways to recognize and reward them for the amazing and impactful work they do and for persisting along their journey. The foundation exists to fulfill the following objectives:

Benefit the community of early childhood educators in North Carolina.
Maintain close collaborations with other professional and non-profit organizations that support the early childhood education workforce in North Carolina, such the North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children (NCAEYC).
Maintain close collaboration with other governmental and university-based organizations that support preschool teachers within North Carolina, such as the Early Educator Support program.
Raise funds to support scholarships, grants, and awards for high quality early childhood educators in North Carolina.

Barbershop Therapy works to “Cut Through The Problems“ by securing resources to provide year-round assistance with haircuts and outreach services for minorities and others, living at or below poverty level in Wake County North Carolina schools!

This portfolio of programs is focused on pre-school to high school students with assistance from school counselors and faculty identifying students in need of haircutting and styling services along with social outreach services. This is for any male students meeting this criteria in the North
Carolina education system starting with Wake County. This also allows local barber shops and barber schools to give back to the community while incentivizing these small businesses bye utilizing a valid voucher system to increase their annual revenue. This would also give each child involved a voucher that would be redeemable at authorized and participating barber shops across North Carolina.

This allows local small business barbershops to continue earning income while impacting the confidence, mental awareness and self esteem of under- privileged youth in the minority / majority male students within the North Carolina Education School System (Wake County).
