Immediate Opening: Follow the Child Montessori School is seeking a full time Finance Director. The primary responsibilities of the Finance Director are to develop and maintain the operating and capital budgets; prepare and present financial statements to management, committees and the Board; as well as ensure compliance with financial controls, policies, GAAP and FASB standards.

Essential Job Functions

· Develop, document, implement and maintain financial policies, procedures and controls to ensure regulatory compliance with GAAP & FASB.
· Develop, manage and administer the operating and capital budgets on monthly, quarterly and annual reviews to ensure compliance with policies, facility & program oversight, loan covenants and alignment with strategic initiatives.
· Prepare monthly and annual financial statements including supporting analyses for management and governance reporting.
· Prepare financial models & analysis of program profitability to assist management, committees and the Board with long range planning.
· Create ad hock reports, forecasting, and pro forma analysis as requested.
· Maintain asset inventory, accrual, amortization and depreciation schedules.
· Track and reconcile monthly card activity for school-wide purchase card.
· Maintain the General Ledger, including monthly reconciliations, closing entries, accruals, and revenue recognition.
· Coordinate preparation of Form 990 and subsidiary tax filings in collaboration with School’s accounting firm and Audit Committee.
· Process payables and receivables on a weekly basis and payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
· Assure timely processing of all payroll withholding, including 403(b) contributions, and post entries to the GL.
· Reconcile monthly statements from benefit providers with payroll reports.
· Monitor and track restricted funds release assuring donor compliance.
· Ensure donations and expenses are properly documented by fund and correctly recorded.
· Accountability for IT Systems and other Office Management accountabilities, including site maintenance and general administrative oversight


· BS Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent experience
· CPA preferred
· 5-7 years of accounting and finance experience, nonprofit experience preferred
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, QuickBooks
· Demonstrated understanding of generally accepted accounting principles in a not-for-profit setting.
· Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations; including parents, faculty and Board.
· Demonstrated experience with GL management, financial reporting, internal control, and capital project accounting.
· Experience with not-for-profit tax reporting, auditing process and timelines
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
· Great attention to detail and initiative in problem solving
