Description:
To fulfill the organization’s mission, the Executive Director of Lenoir/Greene United Way serves as the principal officer and professional resource to the Board of Directors, and in cooperation with them, builds a strong community network focused on improving the quality of life in Lenoir/Greene counties.

Skills Required:
• Possess strong leadership and fundraising abilities.
• Excellent communicator and able to represent the Board and organization appropriately
• Proficient in relationship building with various segments of business, non-profit partners, donors, and volunteers.
• High competence with technology use to include Website maintenance, Facebook and Twitter engagement
• Innovative and enthusiastic to solve community problems

Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service or Business field or combination of non-profit experience and continuing education.

Requirements:
Excellent written, verbal and communication skills that include proficiency in public speaking.  A high level of discretion, ability and accountability to perform tasks without direct supervision.  Strong working knowledge of Lenoir/Greene counties’ non-profit sector and community relations.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Financial Management
Develop, implement and maintain a process for establishing the strategic direction of the organization to include long-term planning.  Evaluate results on an annual basis and apply corrective action if needed.  Forward the mission of the organization.

Adhere to the organization’s financial policies and procedures, preparing necessary reports for presentation to the Board and various committees as necessary.  Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization.

Fundraising and Distribution
Develop and implement year-round resource development strategies that include a schedule and process for goal achievement along with the appropriate reporting.  Execute the organization’s fund allocation process and evaluate results of investment.

Community Relations 
Maintain and develop partnerships with current or future funded partners, business community, civic organizations, community foundations, chamber of commerce, local government agencies, media, and health and human service organizations.
