Chapter Overview: The First Tee of the Triangle is one Chapter of a national non-profit youth initiative called The First Tee. The First Tee was created in 1997 by the World Golf Foundation to provide young people of all ethnic and economic backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. By engaging young people in a combination of life skills, leadership and golf activities, they also are exposed to positive traits that will help them achieve success in life. In the process, participants become valuable assets to their community. The First Tee Life Skills & Golf Experience is the unique component that sets The First Tee apart from many other successful junior golf programs.

Job Description:

The Director of School Program’s primary responsibility is to oversee the in-school, after-school and summer programs for all of The First Tee of the Triangle’s partner elementary schools. The Director of School Programs will maintain relationships with school administration/PE teachers, schedule programs, recruit participants, and ensure fidelity in curriculum delivery. This person will visit schools, lead classes, maintain attendance records, and help transition students to traditional programs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Maintain relationships with all 12 Wake County Elementary Support Model (ESM) schools, 11 Chatham County elementary schools, as well as the remaining active National School Program partners in various counties.
• Visit schools delivering the NSP curriculum to provide ongoing guidance and help recruit for after-school programs.
• Recruit participants and schedule all after-school programs for all Wake County ESM schools.
• Oversee school-based staff at each school to lead/assist in program delivery.
• Maintain participant records in chapter database.
• Transition students to traditional green-grass facility programs.
• Communicate regularly with the Senior Program Director.
• Establish new National School Program partnerships as opportunities arise. 

Coaching/Program Delivery
• Visit after-school programs, and lead class when necessary, to ensure program fidelity.
• Serve as a lead coach in the case of a lead coach’s absence or coach vacancy.
• Develop and continually update The First Tee Life Skills Experience curriculum for after-school and summer programs.
• Promote The First Tee’s mission by modeling The First Tee Nine Core Values and adherence to The First Tee Code of Conduct.
• Actively engage, assist, and mentor participants.
• Attend all coach orientations, coach trainings and special meetings.
• Serve as a role model of mature, responsible behavior to participants.
• Encourage a fun and learning environment.
• Maintain positive, professional and friendly relationships with administration, parents and participants.
• Read, adhere to, apply and model established policies, procedure and practices of The First Tee of the Triangle.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Minimum 3-5 years of education experience, teaching experience a plus
• Effective in managing multiple partnerships; scheduling, recordkeeping, and communications
• Effective in managing and motivating teachers and part-time staff
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including afternoons, evenings and weekends
• This job requires reliable transportation, as this person will regularly travel to elementary schools in our service area: Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, Franklin, and Johnston Counties
