General Description:

The Development Director (DD) facilitates all aspects of the funding development and coordination including but not limited to two major events per year (Music for Me Fine and the Me Fine Gala), an annual appeal and grants. The DD is responsible for formulating prospect lists, forming and maintaining relationships with those prospects, and securing corporate funding. The DD is also tasked with identifying, applying for, and reporting on grant funding.  The DD reports directly to the Executive Director, and the employee in the position is reviewed on an annual basis. In addition, the DD also handles various other duties of the Foundation including, but not limited to, those listed below.

Basic Responsibilities:
• Act as liaison between Foundation and community donors, funding foundations, and community volunteer partners.
• Work with the board development committee to set goals for each member of the committee as well as the committee as a whole.
• Identify, research and set appointments with potential corporate donors.
• Create grant calendar with the ED to ensure all eligible grants are applied for in a timely manner by the most appropriate delegate. (eg. Jr. League member, church member, etc.)
• Abide by any and all HIPAA Guidelines.
• Adhere to all Me Fine Privacy/Confidentiality guidelines.
• Maintain regular communication with Executive Director and Board (as needed).
• Represent Me Fine at community events where needed.
• Communicate openly with Family Assistance Coordinator to keep updated on most critical funding needs.

 

Fundraising Management:
• Search, identify and research potential corporate partners.
• Create and maintain viable stewardship plan to promote regular dialogue with individual and corporate donors.
• Prepare grant proposals/reports as required by program contracts.
• Conduct annual audits of fundraising systems for effectiveness.
• Maintain database of contacts and Me Fine interaction.
• Assist in creation and achievement of fundraising goals.
• Coordinate and manage fundraising campaign(s).
• Coordinate and manage donor information where needed.

Foundation Involvement:
• Make presentations on behalf of Foundation where necessary.
• Maintain Funding Data.
• Collect additional necessary data to help with Me Fine mission.
• Provide additional reports to BOD and Executive Director when necessary.
• Attend BOD meetings and provide Development updates.
• Provide insight and feedback to Executive Director and BOD as needed.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in development position OR Associate’s degree with proven record of nonprofit development success
• Experience in managing fundraising campaigns
• Experience overseeing fundraising events
• A sound general vision of how a comprehensive fundraising plan should work within an organization’s mission

Skills:
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Ability to delegate and follow-up on board responsibilities
• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Good leadership skills with the potential for further professional development
• Ability to maintain client and Foundation confidentiality
• Proficiency with general admin tasks, including data entry/mail mergers
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and database skills
• Self-motivated with ability to multi-task
• Ability to motivate others
• Ability to prioritize, plan and meet deadlines
• Strong intrapersonal skills and ability to work effectively with donors, board, prospects, volunteers and staff
• Knowledge of development of fundraising plans and dedication to a sales cycle
• Comfort with accountability and performance-based metrics
• Event management (preferred)
