The North Carolina Aquarium Society is seeking applicants for the position of Finance Manager.
The Aquarium Society is a 501c3 nonprofit, based in Raleigh, N.C., that serves as the support organization for North Carolina’s three aquariums on the coast (Fort Fisher, Pine Knoll Shores, and Roanoke Island) as well as Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head, N.C. This is not a position with the State of North Carolina.
The controller manages the day-to-day financial operations of the Foundation and is responsible for maintaining financial, accounting, and administrative records to assure the overall integrity of the Foundation’s financial systems. The controller reports to the vice president of finance and administration and works cooperatively with the Finance department, as well as with other Foundation staff. The controller position is an exempt position.
The Deputy Director of Finance will spend 3-6 months learning and then gradually take over management of the auditing, tax preparation, budgeting, and financial reporting of our family of 501(c)3, 501(c)4, and PAC entities, including management of our outsourced accounting team.
Complete oversight in all aspects of the financial and administrative activities of the Center
Accurate, timely reporting and forecasting to the Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees
Primary interface with most external service providers, bankers, auditors and government agencies
Work closely with the Center’s and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and goals that support its mission and vision

Position Objective: Supports the Museum’s Mission by providing accurate and timely financial information, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws as related to accounting, and providing accounting support as needed for a variety of special projects.
